A Peaceful Conflict Resolution Model for University Campuses Is Being Developed with TÜBİTAK 1001 Support

The project “Analysis of Conflict Management in University Campuses and Development of a Mediation-Based Sustainable Institutional Solution Model”, led by Prof. Dr. Yeliz BOZKURT GÜMRÜKÇÜOĞLU of our Faculty of Law, has been awarded funding under the 2025/1 call of the 1001 Programme coordinated by the Research Support Programmes Directorate of the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Türkiye (TÜBİTAK ARDEB).

The project focuses on analysing the causes of and parties to conflicts on university campuses, assessing the adequacy of existing resolution methods and, in the light of the data obtained, developing a sustainable and participatory mediation-based solution model that offers a constructive and lasting approach to such conflicts.

The project team includes Assist. Prof. Dr. Gülnihal Ahter YAKACAK, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sezercan BEKTAŞ, Assist. Prof. Dr. Cansu KORKMAZ, Assist. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Akın BULUT and Assist. Prof. Dr. Ömer Faruk KAFALI as researchers, while Prof. Dr. Abbas TÜRNÜKLÜ and Prof. Dr. Ali YEŞİLIRMAK contribute to the project as advisors.

The project aims to increase the institutional applicability of constructive and sustainable methods for resolving conflicts on university campuses and thereby to contribute to a more inclusive, participatory and peaceful culture of communication in higher education. The model to be developed is expected to enable universities across the country to manage conflicts effectively, to strengthen institutional belonging and satisfaction, and to offer decision-makers an exemplary basis for implementation.
